Baby announcements are cards sent out to relatives, friends, and coworkers, which let everyone know that the new baby is here. Baby announcements come in a great many styles and colors. Ones with an option to add the babys photo will even make great keepsakes.
There are no strict rules regarding baby announcements and proper etiquette. The only rule of thumb is to remember that baby announcements should go out within the first two weeks after the baby is born. After all, with the new baby around, there are plenty more things to keep busy with than sending out announcements! There are, by the way, more chances to receive gifts for the baby when more cards go out.
Any text can go on the baby announcement. Certainly, at least the babys name and birth details should be on the card. This information includes the height and weight of the baby, the hospital of birth, and the parents names. Any kind of personal message can be added, as long as it is kept appropriate for the different kinds of people who will receive the card. Still, it is nice to add a personal touch. Messages could also mention when the mother plans on returning to work.
There are a variety of styles of baby announcement cards to choose from. As is the case with other kinds of cards, they can range from sentimental to cute and funny. Think of who will be receiving these cards when choosing a style. As there are many with pictures, choose those that will fit the babys gender. Announcements can come with pink or blue on them, but there are also many other choices. No matter what, be sure to pick a card that you will want to keep as a memento.
